The Fusion Group was founded in 1998 by Kathy Cook.  Originally located in Needham, Massachusetts, the firm moved to Southborough in 2004, and then to its current expanded office space in 2019.  In 2018, Kathy also opened a satellite space in Boston’s Back Bay to service individual and private equity clients located downtown.

 

Kathy’s interest is in providing high quality tax and family office services to small businesses and individuals.  The clients of the firm come from deeply established personal and business relationships with Kathy and the principals of the firm.  She first practiced on her own, but she slowly recruited other employees to work in an office focused on detailed work while providing a family (and pet!) friendly office atmosphere.  The firm currently has 14 employees.

 

The focus of the firm has always been sophisticated tax planning and compliance services. Many of the firm’s principals have backgrounds and training from the “Big Four” accounting firms.  Their exposure to complex tax transactions and training in research skills prior to joining the firm has been one of the firm’s strongest assets.  As a result, the firm is able to provide wide ranging tax services to a variety of clients while keeping current with constantly changing tax laws.
